Comparison

This week we have been learning about the winter Olympics and part of our Inquiry we created a Venn Diagram comparing and contrasting our school values to the Winter Olympic values. The same thing about our values and the Olympic values is that they both have Respect and Excellence as a value. The difference between our motto and the Olympic motto is that the Olympic Motto is in another language and our motto is in English. We found out that the Olympic motto is in Latin (hendiatris Citius, Altius, Fortius). Panmure Bridge are to show good attitude towards students, teachers and visitors. People participating in the Olympic also have to show good attitude towards other competitors and to their coaches. 

Our whakatauki

Today Alex, Julian and I made a DLO based on our school whakatauki. Manaaki Wehnua, Manaaki Tangata, Haere Whakamua means care for the land care for the people and go forward. We think to follow this advice we need to for care for the land around us, care for the people around us and go forwards to success. This whakatauki belongs to Panmure Bridge School and relates to our school values.

Reciprocal Reading

Today my reading group did reciprocal reading. We read the story then we predicted the story based on what we think could happen in the story. Then the leader asked the other person to see if they have a different prediction. Then we would clarify the words used to see if there are any words we are unsure of.

Comparisons

For Inquiry we have been searching about different mascots. For our task we had to make a Venn Digram comparing Soohorang (main mascot) to another mascot. My group (Alex, Lyric, me) decided to choose Bely Mishka. I learnt that Bely Mishka was one of the mascots who attended the 2014 Winter Olympic. I also learnt that both mascot attend one of the Winter Olympic games. This years Winter Olympic is taking part in Pyeongchang, South Korea. 

Tech 2018

Today was our first day of tech for 2018 we have moved to our new groups. My is in art we have started doing symbols on places lat we see every for an example  like McDonald's. Then we moved on to making pretension on our personal symbols on things we like doing and We showed our personal symbols in pictures.   

making connections

This week LS2 has been learning about the winter Olympics and we a making connections DLO to show we have been learning and what have learned. We talked about how snow is made and how hail falls we also talk if we have seen and the last I saw snow was at  Mt Ruapehu.

Comparisons

Today Ofa Alex and I did this to show our learning about the 1924 Olympics and the modern Olympics. Their are a lot of differences in the 1924 winter Olympics their were less protection gear and no safety barriers, less countries, less rules, no helmets and no stadium. For the modern winter Olympics their more safety gear more games like snowboarding and their 82 to 99 different countries.
